From Trash to Treasure: Significance of National Clean-up Month
In line with Proclamation No. 244, which designates
September as National Clean-Up Month and the 17th to the 23rd of September as
World Clean and Green Week, Ilocos Sur National High School actively
participated in these environmental efforts. On September 13, 2024, the school
organized a significant event titled "Paaralan ko, Linis ko: General
Clean-up Drive." This event saw enthusiastic participation from various
campus clubs, including the Filipino Club, of which I am a proud member. During
the clean-up drive, students and faculty members worked hand-in-hand to clean,
fix, and beautify the school premises. The event not only aimed at improving
the physical environment of the school but also at fostering a sense of
responsibility and community spirit among the participants. The day concluded
with a sense of accomplishment and unity. The school grounds looked pristine,
and the participants felt proud of their contributions. The event served as a
reminder of the power of community action and the positive impact it can have
on our surroundings. Here are some pictures taken during the clean-up:
In this photo, my fellow Filipino Club members and I are diligently cleaning the entire back area of the Filipino Club. I'm prominently holding a large plastic bag, ready to collect any trash we find, while my co-member is energetically sweeping the area with a broom. Our teamwork and dedication to maintaining a clean environment are evident in this snapshot.
Here, I'm beside the Filipino Building, nestled in the mini
garden. I'm crouched down, reaching towards the ground to pick up litter. This
moment captures my commitment to keeping our surroundings tidy and beautiful,
ensuring that the garden remains a pleasant space for everyone to enjoy.
In this photo, we're at the back of the Filipino Building,
focused on sweeping up fallen leaves and other litter. Our efforts are part of a
larger initiative to keep our campus clean and inviting. The photo highlights our active participation in maintaining the cleanliness of our shared spaces.
This photo shows me planting a butchina tree beside our
house. With a shovel in hand and a determined look on my face, I'm contributing
to our environment by adding more greenery. Planting trees is a small but
significant step towards a healthier planet, and this moment captures my
dedication to environmental sustainability.
In this photo, I'm watering the plants and trees around
our home. Holding a pail and dipper, I'm ensuring that each plant receives the
nourishment it needs to thrive. This activity not only supports the growth of
our garden but also reflects my ongoing commitment to caring for our natural
surroundings.
After the program concluded, we gathered for a memorable
group photo in front of our school library together with members from various
clubs. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect, share experiences, and
celebrate our collective achievements. The fellowship and spirit of collaboration
were truly inspiring, making this moment one to cherish.
